The Governor of Borno State, Professor Babagana Zulum, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to strengthening the support for National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) activities within the state. This pledge was made during a courtesy visit by the NYSC Director General, Brigadier General Yushau Dogara Ahmed, at the Government House in Maiduguri.
Governor Zulum highlighted the positive socio-economic impact of the resumption of the Orientation Camp in the state after a 13-year hiatus due to insurgency. He noted that the reopening has significantly contributed to the local economy, benefiting residents across Borno.
The Governor expressed appreciation for the contributions of Corps Members, particularly medical personnel and those serving in secondary schools, for their role in improving healthcare and education in the state. Zulum further mentioned ongoing efforts to expand accommodation capacity at the NYSC Borno State Permanent Orientation Camp, aiming to enhance the Scheme’s operations in the state.
Brigadier General Yushau Dogara Ahmed, in his remarks, thanked Governor Zulum for his continuous support to the NYSC Borno Secretariat, including the donation of a Hilux van, the provision of a State Coordinator’s Lodge, and other essential resources. The Director General also assured the NYSC’s continued support for the success of Governor Zulum’s administration.
During his visit, General Ahmed addressed the Corps Members at the Temporary Orientation Camp in Maiduguri, urged them to responsibly use social media, adhere to the NYSC dress code, and be diligent in serving their country as good ambassadors of the Scheme.
As of the latest update, a total of 991 Corps Members, including 414 females and 577 males, have been enrolled in the NYSC Orientation Course in Borno State.
