The Grand Chief Imam of Oyo Land, Sheikh Al‑Imam Barrister Bilal Husayn Akinola Akeugberu, on Tuesday paid a courtesy visit to the Zonal Deputy Controller of Customs, Wale Moses Adewole, and officers of the Oyo and Osun Zonal Directorate at the Agodi Secretariat in Ibadan, Oyo State.
The visit, held at the zonal headquarters of the Nigeria Customs Service, was marked by cordial discussions aimed at strengthening cooperation between religious leadership and government institutions in promoting national development and civic responsibility.
Speaking during the engagement, Sheikh Akeugberu commended the Customs Service for its role in safeguarding Nigeria’s economic frontiers, facilitating legitimate trade, and contributing to national revenue generation. He stressed that integrity, transparency, and accountability remain essential values for effective public service.
The Islamic cleric noted that Islam encourages justice, fairness, and lawful conduct, assuring the Customs leadership of continued support from the Muslim community in promoting compliance with regulations and ethical behaviour in society.
In his response, Adewole expressed appreciation for the visit, described it as both inspiring and encouraging. He acknowledged the influence of religious leaders in fostering patriotism, discipline, and moral consciousness among citizens, while reaffirming the Directorate’s commitment to professionalism, fairness, and efficient service delivery.
The meeting, described by participants as cordial and intellectually engaging, underscored shared aspirations for a peaceful and law-abiding society as well as sustained economic progress in the state and the country.
The visit concluded with special prayers offered by the Grand Chief Imam for divine guidance and continued success for the Customs leadership and personnel.
