HallowMace Africa, a leading media and advocacy organisation promoting legislative accountability, has announced the first-stage results of its 2026 National Legislative Awards following a nationwide voting exercise.
The organisation disclosed the list of nominated Senators and Members of the House of Representatives across Nigeria’s six geo-political zones and the Federal Capital Territory, following an intensive voting process that involved citizens and members of the National Assembly Press Corps.
According to HallowMace Africa, the first phase recorded significant public participation, with voters assessing lawmakers based on legislative performance, constituency representation, and public service delivery.
The nominees cut across the South East, South South, South West, North Central, North East, North West, and the FCT, reflecting broad representation of lawmakers considered to have performed outstandingly in their respective constituencies.
The awards organisers stated that the competition has now progressed to the next stage, where the initial nominees will be further narrowed down. In the second phase, three finalists will emerge from each geo-political zone before the final voting round determines one Most Outstanding Senator and one Most Outstanding Member of the House of Representatives per zone.
Ambassador Anderson Osiebe, Executive Director of HallowMace Africa, described the high level of participation as a strong indication of growing civic interest in legislative accountability.
“The massive participation we witnessed in the first stage is a testament to the growing interest of Nigerians in legislative accountability,” Osiebe said. “We urge the public to remain engaged as we proceed to the next stage. This process remains transparent and focused on recognising lawmakers who exemplify true service to the people.”
The organisers also announced that voting for the next stage has commenced and will run until April 14, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. Interested participants are to cast their votes via the official voting channel.
The National Legislative Awards 2026 is powered by HallowMace Africa in partnership with several organisations, including the International Goodwill Ambassador Club, ERGAF Africa, and the Isabella Ayuk Foundation, among others.
