The State government of Osun has felicitated Muslims in the State and across the world on the commencement of the new Hijrah year 1442 AH.
This is contained in a statement issued by the Commissioner for Special Duties and Regional Integration, Hon. Olalekan Abdulrahman Badmus.
He urged Muslims to use the celebration of the new Hijrah Year to further solicit Allah’s intervention in the fight against Coronavirus that has “endangered people’s lives and affected economies around the world.”
Badmus also encouraged residents of the State to “continue to support and pray for the administration of Governor Adegboyega Oyetola as he strives to deliver on all his electoral promises.”
Meanwhile, the Senior Special Assistant to Governor Oyetola on Special Duties, Hon. Samson Owoyokun has announced that a Colloquium will hold today, Wednesday 19, August 2020 to mark the outset of the new Hijrah Year.
According to him, the theme of the Colloquium is ‘COVID-19: Economic and Health Impacts, Now and the Future’ and will be aired live on OSBC 104.5FM by 10 am.
He disclosed that the event would be moderated by Dr K.K Busari while Islamic scholars, Dr. A.K Makinde of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Prof. M.A Hassan from Ondo State University, Akungba and Dr. T. Jimoh are to speak on the theme.
“The celebration will continue on Thursday, 20th August, 2020 with a lecture titled ‘Corona Virus Pandemic in the World: Islamic View’ to be delivered by renowned Prof. Adebayo AbdulRafiu of the University of Ilorin on OSBC 104.5FM RADIO by 10am.
“The 1442 Hijrah celebration will climax with a Jumat Service at the Osogbo Central Mosque on Friday,” he said.
