Who is he that will loan to Allah a beautiful loan which Allah will double unto his credit and multiply it many times?’ [2:245].
It is very important to initiate with the above verse that teaches us the importance of generously giving to the poor and needy, living a life of vision and generational life.
In the program Talk Islam on Jordan 93.9 FM, the presenter Abdurasaq Olayode aka Philosopher King verbalized on the topic:- *WHAT IS THE COST OF A GREAT LIFE?.* Abdurasaq stated that giving (an act of charity) is the real cost of living a great life. He said, to live a great life is to have impact on other’s lives, by changing the cost of living of this people, to also have the zeal to build them and solve problems for humanity.
Allah elucidated pellucidly the cost of living a great life in Qur’an 90 (Surah Al Balad) ayah 11 – 18.
We should have faith that a sincere act of giving can only bring abundant reward. “Those who spend their wealth in Allah’s cause are like grains of corn which produce seven ears, each bearing a hundred grains.” (Qur’an, 2:261).
In the Quran, Allah says:“Seek the life to come by means of what God has granted you, but do not neglect your rightful share in this world. Do good to others as God has done good to you.” (28:77).
Therefore, one must try to do good to others and make their life easier, as the reward of it comes from Allah Almighty and is equivalent reward to the deed if not greater.
Abdurasaq also declared that to keep oneself on the track of living a great life, one must have the intention of;
a. Having money with purpose to impact and emancipate people to having a better life.
b. Caring for one’s environment;
c. Spending wisely as death is inevitable and will surely come one day.
d. Leaving a legacy behind.(Think of what people will remember you for). The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “The best of what a man leaves behind are three: a righteous child who supplicates for him, ongoing charity the reward of which reaches him, and knowledge that is acted upon after him.”
e. Not waiting till when S/he is rich before giving. Give from the little you have. The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “O son of Adam, to offer your surplus in charity is better for you, and to withhold it is evil for you, yet there is no blame to keep what is needed. Begin by giving to your dependents, for the upper hand is better than the lower hand.”
May Allah ease our affairs and bless us with the upper hand, Aameen.
