The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, has received the leadership of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON) on a courtesy visit at the Force Headquarters in Abuja, in a move aimed at strengthening collaboration for improved security across the country.
Leading the delegation was ALGON National President, Engr. Bello Lawal, accompanied by key officials of the association, including former National President, Hon. Alabi Kolade; Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Hon. Odunayo Ategbero; Senator Uzamere Igbeke, Financial and Lead Consultant; and other senior executives.
Speaking during the visit, Engr. Lawal reaffirmed ALGON’s commitment to partnering with the Nigeria Police Force in enhancing security at the grassroots. He congratulated the IGP on his appointment, commended his leadership, and emphasized the association’s readiness to support policing efforts across local government areas nationwide. He also appealed for continued police support for ALGON’s initiatives, noting the association’s collaboration with federal and state governments in policy implementation.
In his response, IGP Disu expressed appreciation for ALGON’s sustained support and acknowledged its contributions to improving policing over the years. He highlighted the operational challenges faced by police personnel, particularly resource constraints, while commending ALGON’s role in strengthening security at the local level.
The police boss assured the delegation of his commitment to consolidating existing partnerships and enhancing the capacity of the Force to deliver effective service. He also urged members of the public to respect officers on duty and called on police personnel to maintain professionalism and civility in their engagements with citizens.
The visit underscored a renewed commitment between ALGON and the Nigeria Police Force to deepen cooperation and improve security architecture across Nigeria’s local government areas.
