The Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, has received the Executive Secretary of the Nigeria Police Trust Fund (NPTF), Mohammed Sheidu, alongside members of the Fund’s Board of Directors on a courtesy visit at the Force Headquarters in Abuja.
The visit, held at the Nigeria Police Force Headquarters, opened a platform for strategic dialogue aimed at strengthening collaboration between the Nigeria Police Force and the Nigeria Police Trust Fund in advancing ongoing reforms and improving operational effectiveness across the Force.
The Executive Secretary reaffirmed the NPTF’s commitment to sustained, needs-based interventions in personnel welfare, training, and operational capacity. He highlighted the Fund’s achievements, including over 100 training programmes for more than 13,000 officers, over 170 infrastructure projects nationwide, as well as investments in housing, healthcare, and smart policing infrastructure.
In his response, the IGP emphasized that a stronger and more strategically aligned partnership with the NPTF remains central to the reform agenda of the Force. He stressed that personnel welfare particularly housing, healthcare, and prompt payment of benefits remained critical to morale, discipline, and operational efficiency, while also called for increased support for junior-ranked officers who form the backbone of frontline policing.
The Force Public Relations Officer, Anthony Okon Placid, disclosed this in a statement issued from Force Headquarters, Abuja, on 19 March, 2026, noting that both institutions reaffirmed their commitment to a more responsive, technology-driven, and citizen-focused policing system in Nigeria.
