IGP Egbetokun decorates 20 AIGs, 19 CPs in Grand Ceremony …. Charges Officers to drive positive reforms in Policing

The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Egbetokun Olukayode Adeolu on Tuesday, March 25, 2025, decorated newly promoted senior police officers at the Goodluck Jonathan Peacekeeping Hall, Force Headquarters, Abuja. The ceremony was attended by top dignitaries, families, and professional colleagues of the officers.

 

The promotion, recently approved by the Police Service Commission at the request of the IGP, saw 20 Commissioners of Police (CPs) elevated to the rank of Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG), while 19 Deputy Commissioners of Police (DCPs) were promoted to the rank of Commissioner of Police (CP).

 

Among the newly decorated AIGs are Fasuba Olabode, Musibau Ajani, Aliyu Abubakar, Patrick Adedeji Atayero, Gyogon Grimah, Olaiya Victor Mobolaji, Chukwudi Ariekpere, Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu, Olaolu Adegbite, Godwin Eze, Disu Olatunji Rilwan, Alausa Tolani, Kareem Musa, Mohammed Shehu Dalijan, Dan-Mamman Shawulu, Clement Robert, Musa Auwal Mohammed, Thomas Abraham Nabhoni, Abel Jangnap Zwalchir, and Ifeanyi Uka.

 

Similarly, the newly promoted Commissioners of Police include Usman Tahir, Sunday Okoebor, Ayodeji Faniyan, Saka Adewale Ajao, Omole Ola, Hope Okafor, Ajo Geofrey Oroue, Olufunke Ogunbode, Stephen Ogedengbe, Iyabode Oluwatoyin Agbaminoja, Adebowale Lawal, Ojo Adekimi, Yemi Oyeniyi, Obasi Okereke, Moses Ottah, Felix Nnebue, Gazali Abdulsalam, Fidelis Ogarabe, and Olubode Ojajuni.

 

The event witnessed the presence of high-profile personalities, including former Senate President, His Excellency David Mark; Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, represented by Dr. Ayodele Ogunsan; former Ekiti State Governor, Otunba Niyi Adebayo; former Speaker of the Akwa Ibom House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Onofiok Luke; members of the Force Management Team; as well as serving and retired senior police officers.

 

Addressing the newly promoted officers, IGP Egbetokun congratulated them and urged them to embrace a strategic and progressive approach to policing. He emphasized the need for them to champion the ongoing police reforms aimed at enhancing the operational effectiveness of the Force.

 

The promotion, according to the IGP, is part of a broader effort to boost the morale of officers and reposition the Nigeria Police Force for greater efficiency and service delivery.
