The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced the suspension of admissions into the Law programme at Kwara State University (KWASU) and seven other universities for the 2025/2026 academic session.
JAMB’s spokesperson, Dr. Fabian Benjamin, disclosed this in a statement on Wednesday, citing the decision of the Council of Legal Education (CLE) to suspend the Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) programme in the affected institutions.
The universities affected by the suspension included:
1. Kwara State University, Malete, Kwara State
2. Bingham University, Karu, Nasarawa State
3. Redeemers University, Ede, Osun State
4. Western Delta University, Oghara, Delta State
5. Taraba State University, Jalingo, Taraba State
6. Arthur Jarvis University, Akpabuyo, Cross River State
7. Alex Ekwueme Federal University, Ndufu-Alike, Ebonyi State
8. Nigeria Police Academy, Wudil, Kano State
Dr. Benjamin stated that, as a result of this suspension, JAMB will not process or approve any admissions for the Law programme in these institutions for the 2025/2026 academic session. Additionally, the Nigeria Police Academy, Wudil, will face an extended suspension covering the 2025/2026 and 2026/2027 academic sessions.
UTME 2025 Registration Details
Meanwhile, JAMB has announced the registration and examination dates for the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
The board’s Registrar, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, revealed during a media briefing in Lagos that registration will commence on January 31, 2025, and close on March 5, 2025. The examination will begin on March 8, 2025, with a mock exam scheduled for February 23, 2025, for interested candidates.
JAMB also reiterated that all candidates must provide their National Identification Number (NIN) as a prerequisite for registration. To generate a profile code, candidates must send their NIN via text message to either 55019 or 66019.
UTME Registration Fees
UTME with mock examination: ₦8,200
UTME without mock examination: ₦7,200
Direct Entry (DE): ₦5,700
Oloyede emphasized that the mock examination aimed to help candidates familiarize themselves with the Computer-Based Testing (CBT) format and improve their preparedness for the main exam.
JAMB advised all prospective candidates to adhere strictly to the registration guidelines and deadlines to ensure a smooth process.
