Jibrin Ndace , Nigeria ‘s Consistent Wheel of Loyalty @ 50,by Abdullahi O.Haruna Haruspice

Those who go far in life, are those who wear the shoes of consistency- they keep going and going because they have no other distracting attitude than consistent. They are the ones who tell the story of resilience coated in triumph.

Many years ago, he trekked to the set of NTA Tuesday Live -sitting distantly in the audience corner watching and listening to arrays of opinions by expert commentators – he wasn’t qualified to join the discourse , diligently he stayed put but not without fetching from the fountain of knowledge that greeted the program. Few years later, the audience guest would dominate not just the same NTA Tuesday Live but a consistent guest on all TV stations in Nigeria.

His name is Jibrin Baba Ndace the one referred to as an embedded journalist – one of the two journalists who witnessed and recorded the devastating Boko Haram war in the North East. He saw the ruins of life, the end of towns, and the triumph of victory by our soldiers. While he writes, he counts the many bullets that flew over his head and stands in funeral prayers to offer final rites to fallen soldiers. He was a witness to tears and life.

Stoutly baked in nationalism, the unapologetic military apologist as he cheerfully calls himself is a journalist of conscience who prefers allegiance to the state than personal gains. To Strengthen the narratives of Nigeria during her most difficult era of war, he penned down his experiences in three books – an endowment to the body of history and knowledge.

Cultivated pen pusher, inimitable image maker and perilous strategist, Jibrin Baba Ndace wears the robe of loyalty to a fault- for a cause he believes in, he goes all hog , to him, there is no 99% loyalty but 100%! It is this loyalty that has sustainably brought him to where he is today, the pinnacle of resilience, the zenith of consistency.

In his strides, was his stint as a cub reporter, beat correspondence, program anchor, columnist, commentator, editor, chief press secretary , author and now head of a government agency, the Voice of Nigeria- a richly deserved calling for national service.

Happy birthday Birthday Jibrin Baba Ndace
