The boys are home and I expected the most vocal advocates of their release to be in the forefront of dancing in the streets.
I mean, these were people who had perfected local and international carnivals for the foreseeable future in pursuit of #BringBackOurBoys – with a generous dollop of #sorosoke and a lot of #werey thrown our way.
Instead gloom and glum faces pollute the land, the air and cyberspace.

There is another option – the army goes in with guns blazing and ends the standoff by killing the hostage takers – and as many hostages as are caught in the cross fire.
This is what the Russians did during the the 2002 Moscow Theatre hostage crisis. 50-something hostage-takers were executed, along with about 170 hostages.
But we are not ready for that conversation.
Harsh, but the country was spared the gruesome spectre of fundamentalists beheading citizens on live TV.
Maybe those who have moved from #BringBackOurBoys to bewailing the rumours that a ransom was paid for the release of the Kankara Boys should now channel their energies to more forceful outcomes.
They could, for instance, focus on getting the law enforcement agencies the legislative and executive authority to apply the non-negotiation policy to the fullest.
Just count me out of such devilishness.
