Katsina State is set to witness the unveiling of a Digital Innovation Centre aimed at promoting youth engagement, digital skills development and civic participation across the state.
Governor of Katsina State, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, PhD, is expected to unveil the Tinubu/Dikko Digital Innovation Centre, a purpose-built facility located at Barhim Estate, Katsina, designed to harness digital innovation as a tool for youth empowerment and socio-political engagement.
The initiative was coming at a time when digital platforms are playing an increasingly important role in shaping public discourse, civic participation and governance processes across Nigeria.
Speaking in Abuja on Thursday, the National Coordinator of the Talent Hunt initiative, Arc. Faisal Jafar Rafindadi, described the centre as a strategic platform to advance Governor Radda’s vision by actively engaging young people through technology-driven programmes.
According to Rafindadi, the centre will focus on identifying, training and nurturing digital talents among youths in Katsina State, while encouraging constructive participation in digital advocacy, innovation and civic engagement.
“The Tinubu/Dikko Digital Innovation Centre will serve as a hub for digital mobilisation, innovation and youth participation. It is designed to empower young people with relevant digital skills while promoting Governor Dikko Radda’s developmental agenda,” he said.
A concept note made available to journalists revealed that the centre’s core focus areas include digital communication strategies, social media engagement, digital skills training and influencer development. The facility will also host a competitive talent hunt programme to identify and showcase outstanding digital talents across Katsina State.
Beyond civic engagement, stakeholders believe the initiative will contribute significantly to the state’s growing digital ecosystem by equipping youths with skills relevant to the modern digital economy.
Governor Radda is expected to formally launch the centre, an event organisers have described as a significant step toward strengthening youth participation and digital innovation in Katsina State.
