The Kebbi Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) commemorated International Customs Day (ICD) 2025 with a grand event held at the Command’s headquarters in Birnin Kebbi on Monday, January 27, 2025. The event attracted notable dignitaries, including the Emir of Gwandu, retired senior customs officers, sister agencies, stakeholders, and members of the trading community.
Delivering a keynote lecture on the ICD 2025 theme, “Customs Delivering on its Commitment to Efficiency, Security, and Prosperity,” the Customs Area Controller, Comptroller Iheanacho Ernest Ojike, highlighted the Command’s achievements under the leadership of the Comptroller General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, MFR. He underscored the role of innovative reforms, such as the use of advanced technologies like data analytics and the Authorized Economic Operator scheme, in improving operational efficiency and facilitating international trade.
The event’s special guest of honor, DCG Aminu Abubakar Dangaladima (Rtd), applauded the commitment and hard work of customs officers in ensuring the seamless operation of international trade. He also acknowledged the critical role of stakeholders, sister agencies, and the trading community in supporting the Service’s mission.
Similarly, Comptroller Hussaini Suleiman Kangiwa (Rtd), PhD, stressed the importance of leveraging information and communication technology (ICT), fostering inter-agency collaboration, and conducting meaningful research to enhance enforcement of government fiscal policies.
The occasion also featured the distribution of souvenirs to guests, symbolized appreciation and reinforcing partnerships for stronger inter-agency collaboration.
The event demonstrated the Kebbi Area Command’s dedication to achieving the Nigeria Customs Service’s vision of efficiency, security, and prosperity in line with global best practices.
