The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has expressed deep grief over a tragic accident on the Keffi–Abuja Highway at Angwan Jarmi, which claimed the lives of seven people. The Corps Marshal, Shehu Mohammed, extended condolences to the families of the deceased and described the incident as “painful and devastating,” emphasizing that no loss of life on Nigerian highways is acceptable.
Preliminary reports indicated that the crash involved a single vehicle, allegedly speeding, which lost control and collided after veering into the opposite lane. Rescue teams were quickly dispatched to the scene, but tensions among some members of the public, including commercial motorcycle operators, escalated into a mob attack on the Keffi Unit Command.
The Corps Marshal acknowledged the depth of public emotion following fatal road crashes but assured that a thorough and transparent investigation has been ordered. The probe will examine all aspects of the crash, including allegations related to patrol operations, before determining accountability. Any personnel found to have acted outside operational standards will face appropriate sanctions.
The FRSC praised the Nigeria Police Force and the Army for their swift intervention, which restored order and prevented further disruption. The Corps reiterated its commitment to professionalism, public engagement, and road safety advocacy, urged Nigerians to remain calm and allow due process to take its course.
