The Managing Director, Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation Limited NNPCL under the leadership of Engr Mele Kolo Kyari has broken records on many fronts in the oil industry along with infrastructural development in the country.
This was away from the statutory functions of the NNPCL, transformed under the current leadership of the corporation that had divested into infrastructural breakthroughs in Nigeria.
Since the popular saying of ‘charity begins at home’, the massive reconstruction of the headquarters of the corporation popularly refered to as NNPC Towers was a pointer to other interventions being embarked upon by Mele Kolo Kyari led new NNPCL.
The over three decades edifice that became a shadow of itself aesthetically, structurally and otherwise was being reconstructed by the current management under Kyari as part of his policy framework to revitalize decaying infrastructures to conform with the present realities.
Built and commissioned by the Babangida’s military administration, the gigantic edifice consisting of three blocks of offices houses both corporate offices of the oil conglomerate along many of it’s subsidiaries in the nation’s capital, Abuja.
Having hosted many top executives of the corporation with no foresight of embarking on the laudable program of revitalizing a beffiting structure of that magnitude housing the corporate headquarters, the decision of the current management under Kolo Kyari stood out among it’s leadership of the NNPCL.
The massive ongoing renovation of the three giant structures known as block A,B,C , NNPCL towers no doubt will relive the image of Nigeria at the international space and resolve the poor office accomodation problems bedeviling the corporation in recent times.
For Kyari, he has broken the age long records and the anxiety of embarking on massive renovation of the extraordinary edifice to address the eye sore status of the oil industry capital, strategically located in the nation’s capital, Abuja.
Mele Kolo Kyari did not stop on the multi billion naira massive renovation of NNPCL towers, that had reverted the old oil edifice back to a magnificent structure, but also invested and injected over 1trillion to the infrastural development on Nigerian roads.
As part of NNPCL, a wholly commercial entity to restore Nigeria’s infrastructural decay, no doubt, the corporation will improve from the initial interventions of such a quantum amount to subsequent ones that will improve on the dilapidated conditions of our roads in the country.
Kolo’s reforms, innovations and initiatives in NNPCL will no doubt metamorphosed into other critical sectors of Nigeria’s economy geared towards ressolving both social, economic and the dearth of infrastructures in Nigeria.
The NNPCL management strides and success stories, will no doubt encourage other multinationals into contributing positively to the Infrastructural development across the country.
