The Armed Forces of Nigeria (AFN) says it has intensified military operations across all theatres, recording significant breakthroughs against terrorists, bandits, oil thieves and other criminal elements in the week ending 28 November 2025.
Reaffirming its commitment to national security, the military assured citizens that ongoing operations are being conducted with professionalism, respect for human rights, and close collaboration with other security agencies to restore peace nationwide.
Director, Defence Media Operations (DMO), Major General Michael Onoja,in a release on the weekly operational update, said troops across the North East, North West, North Central, South South and South East recovered large quantities of arms, ammunition, vehicles, improvised explosive materials and operational equipment, while numerous criminal hideouts were dismantled. He added that several kidnapped victims were rescued, and suspected terrorists’ informants, collaborators and logistics suppliers were arrested during the period under review.
In the North East, the Joint Task Force Operation HADIN KAI sustained its momentum across Borno and Adamawa States, targeting Boko Haram, ISWAP and JAS elements. Troops conducted coordinated ground and air operations in Damboa, Monguno, Bama, Chibok, Gwoza, Askira Uba, Ngala and other locations. Several terrorists were neutralised, 11 collaborators arrested, and eight kidnapped commuters rescued along the Gwoza–Limankara axis. A precision air interdiction in Sambisa also destroyed terrorist storage facilities and equipment.
Across the North West, troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA carried out offensive operations in Zamfara, Kebbi, Kaduna, Sokoto, Katsina and Niger States. Multiple terrorists were neutralised, 15 suspects arrested, and 13 kidnapped victims rescued. Troops also intercepted a suspected arms dealer in Bukkuyum LGA of Zamfara State, recovering a ₦4 million transaction receipt linked to weapons procurement.
In the North Central, troops of Operation ENDURING PEACE responded to distress calls and conducted raids across Plateau and Kaduna States. A notorious extremist, Umar Idi (aka Lere), was arrested among 10 other suspects, while 10 kidnapped victims were freed. Troops also recovered ₦2.66 million and transaction receipts totalling ₦5.32 million from rail track vandals attempting to bribe their way to freedom.
Similarly, Operation WHIRL STROKE recorded operational successes in Kogi, Nasarawa, Taraba and Benue States, where criminals were neutralised, 11 suspects apprehended, and nine kidnapped victims rescued. Arms, ammunition, vehicles and livestock were recovered.
In the South South, troops of Operation DELTA SAFE disrupted oil theft activities valued at over ₦173.7 million. They recovered more than 105,000 litres of stolen crude oil and over 63,000 litres of illegally refined AGO, destroyed 11 illegal refineries and arrested 13 suspects. Additional operations in Rivers and Ondo States led to the arrest of a wanted cult leader, Dan Okposuogu known as “World Wide” along with six accomplices. Three kidnapped persons were rescued.
Troops of Operation UDO KA maintained an aggressive posture in the South East, conducting raids across Imo, Abia, Ebonyi and Anambra States. Seven suspects were arrested, five kidnapped victims rescued, and weapons and IED-making materials recovered. On 18 November, an air interdiction in Ezeagu LGA, Enugu State, destroyed a terrorist hideout and neutralised hostile elements.
Major General Onoja commended the gallantry of troops and urged citizens to continue providing credible information to support ongoing operations. He reassured Nigerians that the Armed Forces remain committed to restoring peace, protecting citizens, and safeguarding the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the nation.
