Winners have emerged from 2-day Hadith competition organized by Muhammad VI Foundation for African Ulama.The maiden edition of Hadith competition preselection which was keenly contested by 173 contestants and 15 finalists ended in Abuja on Tuesday.
Yakubu Bello Muhammad became the winner in 3rd category from Bauchi state scored point seven zero by 20 19/22 position in this category, followed by Othman Tshoho from Jigawa state who came 2nd scored 19.25 20.
The Winner in another category was Mohammed Salisu AbdulKareem from Kwara state, he was awarded a token of One Fifty Thousand Naira.
The first position got Three Hundred Thousand naira,Two Fifty Thousand Naira for 2nd position, while One Hundred and fifty Thousand Naira goes to the 3rd position.
According to the lead organizer, Prof Muhammad Ibrahim Makari,who is one of the Imams of National Mosque,contestants are expected to recite from any one to 20, Hadith from the collection of Bukhari or Mata Malik and they are expected to give the text.of the case of transmission of the Hadith, as well as give the meanings of the Hadith ,give the jurisprudential position of that academic applicability of that particular Hadith in jurisprudence, and also explain how it could be applicable to each individually in a Muslim community.
The Lead Organizer said the event, the maiden edition, which is the first of its kind in Nigeria, is about competition of the hadith of noble Prophet, Muhammad, SWT.
He said this competition was an initiative of the Muhammad VI foundation for African Ulama, which has its headquarters in Rabat in Morocco, and which the International and overall Chairman is His Majesty, King Muhammad VI, may Allah preserve his life and honor him. He said there are about 48 branches in Africa.each Branch has been mandated to organize this pre selection for this hadith competition for each category, one, two and three, and the winner of each category in all of these branches of the foundation across Africa are expected to participate in the international competition ,another edition, the International Edition of this competition, which will come up at a later date in Morroco,as decided by the board. so and as you can see, those who
“People were selected across 36 states for all categories, and they all participated in the competition which was keenly contested.
“As I said the essence of this competition is to promote the study, memorization and application of Hadith of the Prophet The program was organized for two days. It started yesterday and we are rounding up today.
“We are able to take the first seven categories yesterday, and we did the last category today, and we are doing the closing ceremony this evening.
“The first category, as I said earlier, is for the participant, is for memorization of the 40 Hadith, Collection of Hadith, the 30 Hadith, by Imam nawawi. They are expected to recite, you know, the Hadith and the transmission, but without explaining the Hadith or giving the meaning of the of the what is called the terms of the Hadith. So the winner in this category was Adam Hassan Muhammad from Borno, he scored the total mark of 19.35 over 20. 19.35 over 20. 19.35 over 20, and he was given a token of agreement of 200,000 Naira for his wonderful performance. The the second position in this particular category was a actually a female. Her name is Sarah Maharaj from Kaduna state. She scored 18.60 over 20, and she was encouraged with 150 1000 by the Foundation, the Nigerian branch of the Foundation, and the top position this first category was Tijani Nasir from Bauchi state. he scored 18.25 over 20. And he was awarded token of 100,000 Naira, apart from the plug that was presented to them for to encourage them for their beautiful performance and the certificate of participation. And for the second category, the winner of that category is Ibrahim Umar Abubakr from Kano state. He scored the total mark of 19.60 over 20. 19.60 over 20, and he was encouraged with the token of 300,000 Naira by the Foundation. The second position of the category was Haroon Hassan Ali from Borno,He got the total mark of 19.40 over 20 and he was awarded 250,000 Naira as a token of encouragement. The third position in this second category was Husna Abbas, also from Borno. She scored 19.10 over 20, and she was encouraged with token of 150,000 Naira this category. they are expected to research the 20 collections from 20 Hadith from Bukhari or Imam Malik. They are supposed to research this hadith, the chains of transmissions, and also give the meaning of each words in as contained in the Hadith, the vocabularies contained in the Hadith. They are expected to give a brief meaning or synonyms of some of those words contained in the Hadith,What’s it called” the lead organizer explained.
In his Goodwill message, the Executive Secretary, Federal Capital Development Authority FCDA ,Engr.Shehu Adi Ahmad represented by the Acting Director, Department of Engineering Design and Evaluation, Engr.Zuqarnain Abdulrahim, commended the organizers of the competition and congratulated the participants,he therefore charged Muslims to take their rightful position for the betterment of Islam and the larger society.
The highlight of the event was presentation of Certificates of participation and cash to the participants and winners of the three categories.
