MURIC Abuja Chapter Honours Women for Selfless Service During Ramadan

The Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) Abuja Chapter has extolled the selfless contributions of women during the holy month of Ramadan, recognizing their dedication to preparing meals for Iftar and Sahur despite the demands of fasting.

In a statement jointly signed by the Chairman, Ustaz Yunus Salahudeen, and the Public Relations Officer, Lukman Laleye Babalola, on Monday, the chapter highlighted the pivotal role women play in ensuring the well-being of their families.

The statement described women as the backbone of society, whose tireless sacrifices mirror the Islamic virtues of patience, compassion, and love.

“Indeed, the men who practice charity and the women who practice charity and they who have loaned Allah a goodly loan – it will be multiplied for them, and they will have a noble reward.”

— (Qur’an 57:18)

“We acknowledge the immense efforts of our mothers, wives, sisters, and daughters, who rise early and stay late to ensure their families are well-fed during Ramadan. Their dedication is an act of worship, and we pray that Allah (SWT) blesses their efforts, rewards their sacrifices, and grants them Jannatu-Firdaus,” the statement read.

MURIC further urged men to show appreciation by offering special gifts and supporting women with love and care throughout the fasting period.

The group reaffirmed its commitment to promoting family values and fostering mutual respect among members of the Muslim community.

“And We have enjoined upon man [care] for his parents… Be grateful to Me and to your parents; to Me is the [final] destination.”

— (Qur’an 31:14)

MURIC concluded with a heartfelt dua, praying:

“O Allah, accept our fasts, strengthen the bonds of our families, and reward the selfless efforts of our women. Grant them health, patience, and Jannatu-Firdaus. Make this Ramadan a means of mercy and forgiveness for us all. Ameen.”
