he Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC), Abuja Chapter, will hold a high-profile public lecture aimed at addressing insecurity and drug abuse in Nigeria, featuring key figures from the religious, security, and civil society sectors.
Scheduled for Saturday, 17th January 2026, at the National Mosque Conference Hall, Central Area, Abuja, the lecture will commence at 10:00am prompt.
According to a statement issued by Lukman Laleye Babalola, PRO of MURIC Abuja Chapter, the event is themed “Towards Changing the Narrative on Insecurity and Drug Abuse in Nigeria for Better,” with a focus on “The Role of the Ummah in Addressing Insecurity and Drug Abuse in Nigeria.”
The lecture will feature distinguished speakers, including Prof. Ishaq Akintola, Founder and Executive Director of MURIC; Mr. Femi Babafemi, Director of Media and Advocacy, NDLEA; and Hajia Rahma Musa Sani, Deputy Ameera of Women in Da’wah.
Special guests of honour include Brig. Gen. Mohammed Buba Marwa (Rtd), NDLEA Chairman , and Kayode Egbetokun, Inspector General of Police.
The occasion will be chaired by Prof. Abba Gambo, and Hajia Amina A. Abdullahi, Traditional rulers such as HRH Alh. Ibrahim Usman Jibril (Emir of Nasarawa) and HRH Alh. Haruna Jibril Tanko (Gomo of Kuje), Rev.Dr. Simon A.S. Dolly-KIF,HFCDA (Zonal Secretary, Christian Association of Nigeria, North Central) ,alongside other prominent faith and community leaders, are also expected to attend.
The lecture according to the Host,Ustaz Yunus Salahudeen, Chairman of MURIC Abuja Chapter,aimed to mobilize the Muslim community and wider society toward practical, value-driven responses to insecurity and drug abuse, with emphasis on moral guidance, advocacy, and collective responsibility.
