The Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) has urged the Federal Government (FG) to include a pedestrian bridge at the NASFAT camp along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, citing safety concerns for the large volume of human and vehicular traffic in the area.
The appeal was made in a statement on Tuesday, 17th February 2026, by Professor Ishaq Akintola, Executive Director of MURIC. The call came as the FG has approved the construction of modern pedestrian bridges at the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) Redemption Camp and Christ Embassy, Asese, along the same highway.
Professor Akintola described the FG’s plan for the Redemption Camp and Christ Embassy bridges as “commendable,” emphasized that modern pedestrian bridges are essential for safeguarding human lives. He added that similar attention should be given to NASFAT, whose bridge had originally been included among 23 pedestrian bridges proposed for the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.
“The decision to erect pedestrian bridges at these prominent sites confirms the concern of FG for the safety of Nigerians,” he said, “but as work progresses at Redemption Camp and Christ Embassy, we call FG’s attention to a similar humanitarian situation at NASFAT camp.”
MURIC’s statement reiterated the importance of prioritizing pedestrian safety, particularly along busy expressways where religious gatherings and events contribute to heavy traffic.
