The Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) has strongly condemned the reported killing of Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, describing the development as an unlawful act and a threat to global peace and international order.
In a press release issued on Sunday and signed by its Executive Director, Professor Ishaq Akintola, the Islamic human rights organization criticized what it alleged was a joint military operation carried out by the United States and Israel targeting Iran.
MURIC described the incident as “extremely outrageous, preposterous and unlawful,” arguing that the attack undermines ongoing diplomatic engagements and violates established principles guiding international relations.
According to the group, the development sends what it called a dangerous global signal that force is being prioritized over dialogue and mutual trust among nations. The organization warned that such actions could heighten tensions and weaken confidence in peaceful negotiations.
The group also advised Muslim leaders worldwide to exercise caution in their diplomatic engagements with Western allies, expressing concerns over trust and security in international relations.
Within Nigeria, MURIC called on Muslims to remain peaceful, law-abiding, and vigilant, while encouraging continued peaceful coexistence with people of other faiths. The organization emphasized the importance of maintaining good neighbourliness, tolerance, and social harmony despite global political tensions.
The statement concluded with an appeal for calm and responsible conduct among citizens, stressing that vigilance should not undermine peace or lawful civic engagement.
