The Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) has expressed deep sorrow over the death of the Chief Imam of Ilorin Emirate, Dr. Muhammad Bashir Imam Solih, described his passing as a monumental loss to Ilorin, Kwara State and the Nigerian Muslim Ummah.
In a statement issued on Tuesday by its Kwara State Chairman, Taofeek Jaji, MURIC extended condolences to the Emir of Ilorin, His Royal Highness, Alhaji (Dr) Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, the immediate family of the late Islamic scholar, and the entire Ilorin Emirate.
According to the group, the late Chief Imam was a symbol of sound Islamic scholarship, humility, moderation and unwavering commitment to the propagation of Islam, whose influence went beyond the Ilorin Emirate.
MURIC noted that throughout his lifetime, Shaykh Muhammad Bashir Imam Solih distinguished himself as a bridge-builder, moral compass and custodian of Islamic values, earning him respect across religious and social divides.
The organisation also acknowledged the announcement by the Emir of Ilorin on the Janazah prayer scheduled to hold at the Palace Square on Tuesday, saying it reflected the high esteem in which the late Chief Imam was held by the Emirate and the wider Muslim community.
MURIC further commended the late Imam’s legacy of peaceful coexistence, religious tolerance, sound scholarship and dedicated service to Allah and humanity, describing his life as a source of enduring lessons for present and future generations.
The group prayed that Allah forgive his shortcomings, accept his good deeds, grants him Jannatul Firdaus, and comforts the Emir of Ilorin, the bereaved family and the people of Ilorin Emirate.
“Indeed, to Allah we belong and to Him we shall return,” the statement concluded.
