The Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) has congratulated the Chairman of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), General Mohammed Buba Marwa (rtd), on his reappointment for another five-year term, described the renewal of his mandate as a clear endorsement of his outstanding performance and integrity.
In a statement issued on Saturday, the Executive Director of MURIC, Professor Ishaq Akintola, said the decision reflected the Federal Government’s confidence in Marwa’s proven commitment to national service and the remarkable transformation he has brought to the NDLEA.
According to the organisation, Marwa’s leadership has revitalised Nigeria’s drug control efforts, resulting in major seizures, high-profile arrests, and coordinated operations that have significantly disrupted illicit drug networks across the country. MURIC noted that these achievements have positioned the NDLEA as a formidable institution and a source of anxiety for drug barons and their collaborators.
Professor Akintola also recalled Marwa’s tenure as military administrator of Lagos State, where he introduced the popular tricycle transport system that helped ease traffic congestion. He said the initiative, which has since spread to other states, remains one of Marwa’s enduring contributions to public administration in Nigeria.
Describing the NDLEA chairman as “a priceless national asset” and “a performer of uncommon distinction,” MURIC urged him to remain steadfast and unwavering in the ongoing battle against drug abuse and trafficking. The group also prayed for continued divine guidance and protection for Marwa and the personnel of the NDLEA as they carry out their responsibilities.
