The Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of Nigeria’s former President, Muhammadu Buhari, describing his death as a “gargantuan loss” to the nation.
Buhari, who died in a London clinic on Sunday, 13th July 2025, was remembered by the Islamic human rights group as a leader who upheld integrity throughout his lifetime.
In a statement released on Sunday, the Executive Director of MURIC, Professor Ishaq Akintola, said; “The late ex-president was one of the few leaders of Nigeria who maintained his dignity till death. Though often misunderstood, Buhari was a complete gentleman who lived a Spartan life in and out of office. His death is a gargantuan loss to the nation as a whole.”
MURIC extended condolences to the former president’s family, the government and people of Katsina State, and Nigerians at large, prayed for divine comfort and fortitude.
President Muhammadu Buhari served as Nigeria’s Head of State from 1983 to 1985 and later as a democratically elected President from 2015 to 2023.
