The Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of Bisiriyu Olaoye, an editor with Champion newspaper, who died two days ago.
In a condolence message issued on Friday, February 14, 2025, the Executive Director of MURIC, Professor Ishaq Akintola, described Bisiriyu’s death as a great loss to the media industry, his colleagues, and his family.
“We grieve over the loss of a companion,” MURIC stated. “Bisiriyu was not just any journalist. He was a friend and a companion. He was a loving family man. He was warm, candid, and hardworking. He added a human face to everything he touched. Bisiriyu was a humanist.”
The Islamic human rights group extended its condolences to the management and staff of Champion newspaper, as well as the National Union of Journalists (NUJ), urging them to uphold the late journalist’s legacy of professionalism and commitment to a better society.
MURIC also prayed for divine mercy upon the deceased. “May Allah forgive Bisiriyu Olaoye. May He in His Infinite Mercy have mercy on him and repose his soul in Al-Jannah Firdaus. May his family and associates be granted the fortitude to bear the loss,” the statement concluded.
Bisiriyu Olaoye was known for his dedication to journalism and his contributions to the media landscape. His passing has left a void in the industry, with colleagues mourning a man celebrated for his professionalism and kindness.
