The Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) has expressed condolences to former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, following the death of his mother, Hajiya Ummah El-Rufai.
In a statement issued on Saturday, the group’s Executive Director, Ishaq Akintola, described the late matriarch’s passing as a painful loss and extended sympathies to the entire El-Rufai family, including Bello El-Rufai.
MURIC thanked Almighty Allah for the life of the deceased, noting that her values and principles were reflected in her son. The organisation urged the family to take solace in faith, emphasizing gratitude for life and divine mercy even in moments of grief.
The group also offered prayers for the forgiveness of the deceased and her admission into Aljannah Firdaus.
Meanwhile, MURIC commended the Federal Government for facilitating the temporary bail granted to El-Rufai to enable him attend his mother’s funeral. It specifically appreciated Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, for what it described as a humane gesture.
Drawing comparisons with past experiences, the organisation noted that former President Muhammadu Buhari and former National Security Adviser Sambo Dasuki were unable to attend their mothers’ funerals due to detention at the time.
MURIC concluded that the decision to grant El-Rufai temporary bail reflected a growing human face in Nigeria’s justice system.
