The Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) has called on the Federal Government, state governments, and public institutions to avoid entering into business partnerships with Israel, describing such engagements as morally wrong and politically insensitive.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, 13th August 2025, MURIC’s Founder and Executive Director, Professor Ishaq Akintola, condemned a recent deal between Nigeria’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Israel’s foreign ministry involving the establishment of 40 startups in the country. He argued that any business arrangement with Israel amounts to “a romance with a terrorist state.”
Professor Akintola said the Israeli initiative, unveiled in Abuja by the country’s Deputy Foreign Minister, Sharren Haskel-Harpaz, was “a vehicle of deception from a rogue genocidal state.” He accused Israel of gross human rights violations, including the killing of over 60,000 Palestinians since October 7, and alleged that children, women, and Christians had been among the victims.
“Doing business with Israel at this moment is akin to dancing on the graves of those innocent women and children massacred by a belligerent, war-mongering and recalcitrant state,” Akintola stated, urging Nigerians to “shun Israel’s money and its genocide-infested businesses.”
MURIC maintained that any cooperation with Israel at this time would undermine Nigeria’s moral standing and solidarity with oppressed peoples.
