Nigeria is set to host a high-level conference on innovation and sustainability as the National Centre for Technology Management (NACETEM) and the National Board for Technology Incubation (NBTI), in partnership with the Senate Committee on Science and Technology, organize a two-day international forum under the Global Sustainable Technology and Innovation Community (G-STIC) platform.
Themed “Powering the Next Generation of Innovation,” the event will take place on Tuesday, 21st and Wednesday, 22nd October 2025, at the National Assembly Library, Abuja, with hybrid participation options for both in-person and virtual attendees.
The G-STIC initiative is a globally acclaimed platform promoting the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through science, technology, and innovation. As a key member, NACETEM aimed to use the conference to position Nigeria at the forefront of global innovation and sustainable development conversations.
Director-General of NACETEM, Dr. Olushola Odusanya, said the conference will bring together policymakers, researchers, industry leaders, and technology experts to explore transformative solutions in artificial intelligence (AI), climate action, digital infrastructure, and vocational skills development.
“This event provides an opportunity for Nigeria to demonstrate its readiness to harness innovation as a driver of sustainable growth,” Odusanya said.
Key features of the conference include the launch of the NACETEM AI Ecosystem, the Cosmopolitan University DataCube, the Smart Boats Project, Augmented Reality Welding Showcase, and the Credufy/NACETEM Education Partnership. Also lined up are the FUT Minna STI Programmes and the signing of a Whitecloud TVET Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).
Participants will benefit from expert-led masterclasses on AI applications, Systems Thinking, and System Dynamics, alongside case studies demonstrating how artificial intelligence can enhance governance, agriculture, and healthcare in Nigeria.
Among the key speakers are Senator Iya Abbas, Chairman, Senate Committee on Science and Technology; Dr. Kazeem Kolawole Raji, Director-General of NBTI; Professor Stefano Armenia, President, System Dynamics Italian Chapter (SYDIC); Professor Carl Adams, Vice-Chancellor of Cosmopolitan University; Mr. Joseph Wehbe, CEO of Daimlas; and Mr. Mohammed Esat, Financial Outsourcing Director at Forvis Mazars UK.
The organizers described the event as a pivotal moment in Nigeria’s transition toward a knowledge-based and innovation-driven economy, showcasing home-grown technologies and strengthening international partnerships for sustainable development.
“This is not just a conference it’s a catalyst for collaboration and creativity that will define the next phase of Nigeria’s innovation landscape,” Odusanya added.
