The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has commended journalists covering the 2025 Hajj for their professionalism, maturity, and ethical conduct throughout the pilgrimage.
Speaking at the plains of Arafah on Thursday, June 5, 2025 during the peak of Hajj rites NAHCON’s Assistant Director of Information, Hajiya Fatimah Sanda Usara, conveyed the Commission’s appreciation on behalf of the Chairman, Commissioners, and Management.
Hajiya Fatimah expressed satisfaction with the conduct of the media team and encouraged them to sustain the high standards they have demonstrated until the end of the Hajj exercise.
She reaffirmed NAHCON’s commitment to transparency and collaboration, noting that all relevant departments and units remain accessible to journalists for information, clarification, and constructive feedback.
“While no large-scale operation is without its challenges, we do not claim perfection.However, there is no deliberate intention to inconvenience pilgrims. Allah Himself enjoins patience and perseverance during Hajj, and we echo that call.”she said.
She conveyed the deep appreciation of the Commission’s Chairman, Professor Abdullahi Saleh Usman Pakistan, and the entire management team for the media’s support, described journalists as vital partners in NAHCON’s mission.
“NAHCON believes no amount expended on media engagement is too much, given the pivotal role journalists play in promoting public institutions,” she said. “Unfortunately, financial and logistical constraints have limited our ability to fully reward the diligence and patriotism demonstrated by the press.”
Hajiya Fatimah assured continued collaboration with the media in educating, sensitising, and enlightening the Nigerian public and the Muslim Ummah about Hajj-related matters.
She concluded by announcing that following the pilgrims’ stay at the sacred sites Mina, Arafah, and Muzdalifah a post-Arafah stakeholders’ meeting would be held, after which the final phase of the pilgrimage the return journey would commence. She urged journalists to remain committed until the successful conclusion of the exercise.
