The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has reiterated its unwavering commitment to ensuring the welfare, safety, and comfort of Nigerian pilgrims throughout the 2025 Hajj exercise.
Speaking on Monday, June 2, 2025, during the Pre-Arafah Stakeholders Meeting held in Makkah, the Chairman of the Commission, Professor Abdullahi Saleh Usman Pakistan, said NAHCON owed Nigerians in general, and pilgrims in particular, a duty to diligently execute all responsibilities it shoulders.
He emphasized that the Board, Management, and Staff of the Commission were in service for the benefit of Nigerian pilgrims, who sacrificed their hard-earned resources to fulfill one of the fundamental pillars of Islam.
According to him, the cardinal mandate of the Commission is to ensure effective and seamless service delivery to pilgrims from Nigeria to the holy land and back home safely.
Professor Pakistan commended the dedication of NAHCON staff and other stakeholders, whom he described as the foot soldiers of the Hajj operations. He praised their selfless sacrifices in ensuring a hitch-free exercise, stating that the progress recorded so far justifies the efforts made.
He assured that NAHCON would continue to do everything humanly possible to guarantee the comfort and peace of mind of all Nigerian pilgrims.
In his welcome address, the Commissioner for Operations, Prince Anofiu Elegushi, highlighted that Hajj operations demand unity, piety, timely communication, commitment, and sacrifice from all stakeholders.
He urged all parties to dignify the pilgrims through quality service delivery that reflects the value of their financial and spiritual investment.
Prince Elegushi also expressed appreciation to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman Bin Abdulaziz, the Crown Prince, Muhammad Bin Salman, and the Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah for their relentless efforts in facilitating smooth and efficient Hajj and Umrah operations.
