The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has reaffirmed its commitment to accountability, transparency, and due process in its operations, amid recent media reports carrying unverified allegations against the Commission.
In a statement signed by Fatima Sanda Usara, Assistant Director, Information and Publication, on behalf of the Chairman/CEO, NAHCON stressed that as a public institution established by law, it remained committed to serving Nigerian pilgrims with integrity, responsibility, and efficiency.
The Commission noted that it continued to maintain active collaboration with relevant government agencies, including anti-corruption and regulatory bodies, adding that it would not shield any staff or process found wanting.
“NAHCON maintains an open and ongoing relationship with all relevant government agencies and believes in due process and the rule of law. The Commission would not shield any staff or process found wanting,” the statement said.
While addressing the concerns raised by recent media publications, NAHCON cautioned against speculative reports and urged the public and media practitioners to allow competent authorities to conclude their work. It warned that publishing unverified claims amounts to trial by the media, which could unfairly subject innocent persons to reputational damage.
The Commission assured that it remain focused on post-Hajj evaluations, addressing operational challenges, and strengthening systems to ensure improved service delivery in subsequent Hajj exercises.
