The National Assembly’s Committee on ICT and Cybersecurity, chaired by Hon. Adedeji Stanley Olajide, has reinforced its commitment to Nigeria’s digital transformation through an oversight visit to the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) in Abuja.
The visit underscored the legislature’s focus on transparency, accountability, and effective governance in the nation’s rapidly evolving digital ecosystem.
The delegation was received by NITDA Director General, Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi, who briefed the lawmakers on the Agency’s strategic initiatives, key programmes, and ongoing efforts to strengthen cybersecurity frameworks across the country. DG Abdullahi highlighted operational challenges and sought the Committee’s legislative support to tackle regulatory, institutional, and capacity-related constraints that hinder NITDA’s ability to fully deliver on its expanding national mandate.
In response, Hon. Olajide and members of the Committee assured NITDA of their full backing, pledging collaborative solutions to enhance the Agency’s capacity. The lawmakers emphasized that their support would align with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, aimed at accelerating digital transformation and fostering an inclusive, secure, and robust digital economy for Nigeria.
The visit reflected a shared vision between the legislature and NITDA to leverage technology for national development, enhance cybersecurity, and ensure that Nigeria remain at the forefront of Africa’s digital landscape.
