Naval Chief hosts Ratings for Iftar reaffirms unity, professionalism

The Chief of the Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Idi Abbas, on Monday hosted naval ratings serving within the Abuja area for an Iftar gathering at the Navy House, Abuja.

The event, held on 16 March 2026, brought together Muslim personnel observing the holy month of Ramadan to break their fast in an atmosphere of unity, reflection, and camaraderie. Principal Staff Officers, Directors, and ratings from Naval Headquarters were in attendance, highlighting the inclusive nature of the gathering.

Addressing the personnel, Vice Admiral Abbas commended the ratings for their dedication, discipline, and steadfast commitment to service. He described Ramadan as a period that reinforces the values of sacrifice, humility, and compassion.

The naval chief further urged personnel to continue upholding the core values of the Nigerian Navy professionalism, teamwork, and loyalty while discharging their duties.

The engagement also provided an avenue for strengthened interaction between officers and ratings, boosting morale, fostering cohesion, and reinforcing the Service’s commitment to personnel welfare.
