The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has announced the promotion of 1,419 junior officers in recognition of their outstanding performance in the 2024 promotion exercise. The decision was ratified during the 10th Management meeting, held on November 29, 2024, and chaired by the Comptroller General of Customs (CGC), Bashir Adewale Adeniyi.
The comprehensive promotion covered both General Duty and Support Staff, with 346 General Duty officers and 384 Support Staff advancing from Assistant Inspector of Customs (AIC) to Inspector of Customs (IC). Additionally, 4 General Duty officers and 13 Support Staff moved from Customs Assistant I (CAI) to Assistant Inspector of Customs (AIC), while 372 General Duty and 59 Support Staff officers were promoted from Customs Assistant II (CAII) to Customs Assistant I (CAI). Furthermore, 188 General Duty and 54 Support Staff officers rose from Customs Assistant III (CAIII) to Customs Assistant II (CAII).
The CGC, in his congratulatory message, emphasized the importance of career growth and motivation within the NCS, encouraging the newly promoted officers to continue their dedication to the service’s key functions, including revenue generation, smuggling suppression, and trade facilitation.
The promotion of senior officers is also in progress, awaiting approval of the Nigeria Customs Service Board.
