The 8th Nigeria Diaspora Investment Summit (NDIS) ended on a high note as Adaora Akojume of Beta Agric Ventures emerged as the top pitcher, securing a N250 million investment during the agribusiness pitching sessions.
The summit, organized by the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM) in collaboration with the Nigeria Diaspora Summit Initiative (NDSI), was held from November 11–13 at the State House Conference Centre, Abuja.
Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, Chairman and CEO of NIDCOM, commended Adaora for her innovative approach, described the Summit as a testament to the Nigerian diaspora’s role in driving economic growth and national development. She emphasized that the NDIS provided a platform for Nigerians at home and abroad to collaborate on creating jobs, stimulating investable ideas, and strengthening investor trust.
The Agribusiness session, moderated by Dr. Moji Davids of Xtralarge Farms and Luxury Resorts, focused on innovative agri-value chains, food security, and export models. Adaora’s presentation, featuring her tomato paste product, impressed investors and resulted in an investment offer from Mr. Christopher Obode of New Jersey, USA. Her model also drew additional commitments from investors to test the product in future local and international summits.
The Summit attracted over 50 pitchers, more than 15 sponsors and exhibitors, 900 physical participants, and over 2,000 virtual attendees globally. Organizers described the event as a hub for actionable investment opportunities and sustainable business partnerships, highlighting tangible economic results over mere discussion.
Adaora’s achievement underscored the growing impact of Nigerian agripreneurs and the importance of diaspora collaboration in driving innovation and economic empowerment.
