The Director-General of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Mrs. Zubaida Umar, has called on the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) to partner in operationalising schools set up at Rehabilitation Scheme for Persons Impacted by Conflict (RSPIC) sites across seven states.
Making the appeal during a visit to UBEC headquarters in Abuja on 11th February 2026, Mrs. Umar noted that the RSPIC project includes educational facilities aimed at addressing the learning needs of children in resettled communities. She stressed the importance of UBEC’s support to ensure that these schools become fully functional.
In response, the Executive Secretary of UBEC, Dr. Aisha Garba, assured NEMA of the Commission’s commitment to collaborate within its mandate to promote basic education nationwide.
The partnership is expected to enhance access to quality education for children affected by conflicts, bridging critical gaps in resettlement communities.
