The Nigerian Economic Summit Group (NESG), in partnership with the Federal Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning, has unveiled preparations for the 31st Nigerian Economic Summit (NES#31), slated for October 6–8, 2025, at the Transcorp Hilton Hotel, Abuja.
Themed “The Reform Imperative: Building a Prosperous and Inclusive Nigeria by 2030,” the summit will address key issues around reforms, economic growth, and inclusive development.
Speaking at a World Press Conference in Lagos, NESG Chairman, Mr. Niyi Yusuf, stressed the urgency of deepening reforms to secure Nigeria’s future. He commended recent policy decisions such as fuel subsidy removal and foreign exchange harmonisation but noted that more structural reforms are needed.
Representing the Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, Senator Abubakar Atiku Bagudu, the Director of Macroeconomic Analysis, Mr. Felix Okonkwo, reaffirmed government’s commitment to reforms, citing improvements in fiscal stability and investor confidence. He further highlighted President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Ward Development Programme as a people-centered initiative targeting over 10 million citizens across the country’s 8,809 wards.
Also speaking, NESG Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Tayo Aduloju, described NES#31 as a defining moment to consolidate gains and position Nigeria for the aspirations of Agenda 2050. He called on government, private sector, civil society, and development partners to actively participate in shaping reforms that guarantee sustainable, inclusive, and globally competitive growth.
