The Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM) has commended Sakinah Medical Outreach (SMO) for its upcoming medical mission aimed at providing free healthcare services to underserved Nigerians.
In a statement issued by NIDCOM’s spokesperson, Abdur-Rahman Balogun, the Chairman/CEO of the Commission, Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, praised the initiative as a reflection of SMO’s dedication to humanitarian service and its commitment to Islamic values of compassion and care.
The medical mission is scheduled to hold from February 16 to 21, 2025, at the National Hospital Abuja, targeting over 100 beneficiaries. The outreach will offer various medical procedures, including urethroplasty, TURP/TURBT, PCNL/RIRS, kidney stone surgery, laparoscopic urology, diagnostic flexible cystoscopy, lipoma removal, circumcisions, and hernia repairs.
Dr. Yusuf Salman, Chairman of Sakinah Medical Outreach, disclosed that a team of medical professionals from abroad would join their Nigerian counterparts to perform the procedures as part of their humanitarian efforts.
“The mission is guided by the Islamic principles of compassion, care, and love. We believe that every human life is precious and deserves access to quality medical care,” Dr. Salman stated.
Sakinah Medical Outreach has provided free medical care to over 13,000 Nigerians in the past 16 years, both within and outside Nigeria. Dr. Salman expressed gratitude to their partners, Medics Across Continents (MAC) and National Hospital Abuja, for supporting the mission.
