The Chairman/CEO of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM), Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, has congratulated the newly elected executives of the National Association of Nigerian Students in Diaspora (NANSD), commending their commitment to unity, progress, and leadership among Nigerian students overseas.
The congratulatory message followed the association’s successful general elections held on March 22, 2025, and the formal inauguration of the new executive council on April 12, 2025.
In a statement issued through the Director of Media, Public Relations and Protocols Unit, Abdur-Rahman Balogun, the NiDCOM boss expressed satisfaction with NANSD’s dedication to representing Nigerian students across various continents.
She reaffirmed NiDCOM’s unwavering support for the association’s mission and vision to serve as a unifying platform for Nigerian students in the diaspora.
Re-elected as President of NANSD is Chris Juwon Fayomi, a PhD student of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering at RMIT University in Australia, who hails from Kogi State.
Other members of the newly inaugurated executive council included Rev. Okoye Chikelue C, a Doctor of Dental Medicine and Surgery student at South Western University Phinma in the Philippines, who was elected Vice President and represents Anambra State.
Also elected is Lasmar Garba, a PhD student of Civil Engineering at Lovely Professional University in India, who will serve as Secretary General and represents Jigawa State.
Aliyu Sani Adamu, studying Business Administration (Procurement and Logistics) at Cavendish University in Uganda, emerged as Assistant Secretary General. He is from Kaduna State.
Anita Solarin, a student of Public Management with a major in International Relations at the University of Pretoria in South Africa, was appointed as Public Relations Officer. She represents Ogun State.
While congratulating the new leaders, Dabiri-Erewa described them as “dynamic change agents and ambassadors of Nigeria,” urged them to uphold excellence, integrity, and innovation in their roles.
“As the voice of our young people abroad, I encourage you to lead with vision, serve with purpose, and uphold the values that reflect the best of Nigeria. You have the full support of NiDCOM as you continue to inspire and impact lives across borders,” she said.
NiDCOM reiterated its commitment to fostering meaningful engagement with the Nigerian diaspora community, especially through initiatives focused on youth inclusion, education, and global representation.
