The Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM) has condemned the killing of a Nigerian national, Emeka Christian, in Pune, India, described the incident as tragic and senseless.
In a statement issued by the Commission’s Director of Media, Public Relations and Protocols, Abdur-Rahman Balogun, NiDCOM disclosed that the victim was allegedly beaten to death by two fellow Nigerians identified as Chukwudi Okafor, 31, and Samuel Eze, following a romantic dispute.
The Commission expressed deep condolences to the family and loved ones of the deceased, noting that no family should be made to endure such a painful loss.
NiDCOM called on relevant Indian authorities to conduct a thorough and transparent investigation into the incident and ensure that justice is served without delay.
The Commission also urged Nigerians living abroad to resolve conflicts peacefully and to uphold the highest standards of conduct, reminding them that their actions reflect on Nigeria’s image globally.
Chairman/CEO of NiDCOM, Mrs Abike Dabiri-Erewa, stressed that violence has no place within the Nigerian community, adding that unity, respect, and lawfulness are essential to building a stronger and more positive diaspora.
