NiDCOM hails Dr. Anselm Ombudsman for historic PhD feat in Portugal

The Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM) has celebrated Dr. Barr. Anselm C. Ombudsman, a distinguished Nigerian academic, for earning a rare First Class Distinction (Summa Cum Laude) in his PhD in Law from the University of Lisbon, Portugal.
In a statement issued in Abuja by Abdur-Rahman Balogun, Director of Media, Public Relations and Protocols at NiDCOM, the Chairman/CEO of NiDCOM, Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, praised Dr. Ombudsman for bringing exceptional honour to Nigeria through his academic excellence and commitment to high-level research. She described his accomplishment as a testament to the global brilliance and resilience that Nigerians continue to demonstrate.
According to the statement,Dr. Ombudsman successfully defended his doctoral thesis before a panel of renowned professors from Portugal, Europe, and the United States. After a rigorous two-hour examination, the panel unanimously affirmed his outstanding performance.
The University of Lisbon later confirmed that 13 professors voted to confer on him the prestigious Summa Cum Laude honour an achievement attained by only one other individual in the institution’s history.
Dabiri-Erewa noted that such milestones underscore the exceptional contributions of Nigerians in the Diaspora to global scholarship, adding that Dr. Ombudsman’s success serves as an inspiration to students, researchers, and professionals across the country.
NiDCOM reiterated its commitment to celebrating and supporting Nigerians who continue to excel and contribute meaningfully to national development and international recognition.
