Niger State Government has reiterated its continued commitment to bring banditry and other forms of criminalities to an end in the State.
The Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Ahmed Ibrahim Matane made the disclosure when he received Victims Support Fund (VSF) led by the Executive Director, Prof. Nana Tanko in his Office.
The SSG told members of the Victims Support Fund that Government is worried with the activities of armed bandits, kidnappers, cattle rustlers and as such it is leaving no stone unturned in tackling the dastardly act in the State.
He expressed Government readiness to partner with any non-governmental organization towards fashioning out strategies that would forestall any breach of security in the State.
Ahmed Matane revealed that about seven Local Government Areas in the State namely Munya, Shiroro, Rafi, Mariga, Wushishi, Rijau and Mashegu are affected by banditry, kidnapping and cattle rustling.
The SSG commended Victims Support Fund for their tremendous assistance and support to the victims of insurgency, vulnerable persons and urged them not to relent; stressing that the community-based approach embarked upon by VSF will no doubt assist in dealing with insurgency in the country.
Earlier in her remarks, the Executive Director, Victims Support Fund (VSF), Professor Nana Tanko told the SSG that VSP responds to the urgent need to promote community recovery and stability by facilitating the restoration of livelihood.
Prof. Tanko revealed that VSP which is a knowledge-driven and programme-based organization also build a partnership for the support and transformation of victims of terrorism and insurgency in Nigeria.
Prof. Tanko and members of her entourage were accompanied to the SSG’s Office by the Director-General, Niger State Emergency Management Agency, Alhaji Ibrahim Inga and other Directors of the Agency.
