The Secretary to the Government of Niger State (SSG), Ahmed Ibrahim Matane has restated Government’s commitment to end banditry, kidnapping, and other security challenges in the State.
Ahmed Matane disclosed this when Chairmen of Governing Councils of Tertiary Institutions in Niger State paid him a courtesy visit to commiserate with the State Government over the recent abductions and rising cases of banditry in the State.
The SSG assured the people of the State that the Governor Abubakar Sani Bello-led administration would continue to put in place strategies towards finding lasting solutions to the current security threats in the State.
According to Matane, “Government attaches tremendous importance to the security of lives and properties of the citizens, hence the need for peaceful co-existence among the people”.
He reiterated the present administration’s commitment to continuously collaborate and support Tertiary Institutions in the state in achieving the desired objectives.
The SSG stated that he was excited with the uncommon show of love, support, and solidarity by the Chairmen and members of Governing Council of Tertiary Institutions in the State to the State Government during the trying moments.
Earlier, the Chairman, Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University, Lapai Governing Council, Gen. Idris Garba (rtd) represented by Prof. Muhammad Bashar Nuhu told Ahmed Matane that they were in his office to commiserate with the State Government over the recent abductions and rising cases of banditry in the State.
Prof. Bashar extolled the commitment and proactive actions of Governor Abubakar Sani Bello and other stakeholders in swiftly addressing the recent abduction of Students of Government Science College, Kagara, and the kidnapping of Passengers of a bus belonging to the Niger State Transport Authority (NSTA).
