Police operatives of the Anti-Kidnapping Unit attached to SCID Minna,Niger state command on 14th June,2023 at about 1500hrs, arrested one Mohammed Bande a.k.a Kachalla aged 54yrs of Saminaka village Lapai LGA, with a sum of one million, two hundred and seven thousand naira.
The suspect was arrested in Lambata area of Gurara LGA for being suspected to be in possession of cash to purchase arms and ammunition, as indicated by the credible intelligence received.
During interrogation, he confessed that the money was given to him by one Gora of same village presently at large, to meet a yet-to-be-identified arms dealer at Lambata to procure AK-47 ammunition.
He further said that the purpose of the intended procurement was to boost their arms capacity for continued kidnapping and cattle rustling activities around Saminaka, Lapai, Lambata and its environs, while he also said that he was promised of two hundred and fifty thousand naira for the transaction.
However, police has intensify effort to apprehend the said Gora who is on the run, with a view to arrest others, as the suspect is under investigation in SCID Minna
Meanwhile ,on 5th June,2023 at about 2015hrs, an incident of a suspected culpable homicide from Izom, Gurara LGA was reported at Gawu-Babangida Division, that on the same date at about 1900hrs, a young girl Ubaida Surajo 14yrs of Izom was killed in her parent residence, when the mother was at Izom market.
Upon receipt of the unfortunate incident, Police operatives attached to the Division commenced a preliminary investigation and arrested the following suspects at a tea-joint in Izom on 6th June,2023.
-Nuhu Mohammed 26yrs
-Sani Usman 22yrs both of Izom town.
During interrogation, Nuhu who was a tenant in the same residence, confessed that in the early hours of the same date, there was an altercation between him and the deceased mother, about her missing sum of ninety thousand naira, as he was accused to have stolen the money.
He claimed that the accusation got him angry, consequently, he invited his friend Sani to the house and attacked the daughter (the deceased) immediately after the girl returned from school. He confessed further that the girl was injured on the head and strangulated to death by the duo.
He said that they immediately left the scene, locked the house gate from outside and went away untill when the mother came back from the market before the incident was discovered.
In the course of the investigation, a search was conducted and the following exhibits were recovered:
-Six knives
-Two cutlasses
-A digger
-A suspected blood-stained shirt belonging to Nuhu
-Some other pieces of clothes
Suspects have also been transferred to SCID Minna ,Niger state command for further investigation, and they will be arraigned in court for prosecution as soon as the investigation is concluded.
