LIn view of the recent robberies in parts of Minna metropolis, and similarly on 09/07/2023 at about 0500hrs, based on a report of armed robbery incident that on the same date at about 0200hrs, suspected armed robbers numbered about five, armed with cutlasses and knives attacked a residence around Top medical area of Tunga, Minna where two victims were injured and some money with other valuables were carted away by the hoodlums.
On receipt of the report, DPO Tudun-Wada Div mobilized and led his patrol team with the aid of technical intelligence. The team trailed the suspects to a residence around Flamingo, Maitumbi Minna.
On sighting the Police team, the suspected robbers took to their heels and after a hot chase, three suspects among the robbers were arrested, and they are;
-Anthony Ibrahim aged 25yrs
-Abubakar Ibrahim aged 27yrs
-Mikhail Ibrahim aged 25yrs
Two other persons were equally arrested along with the suspects who are;
-Danjuma Ibrahim aged 58yrs (father of two among the suspects)
-James Ibrahim aged 19yrs, all of Maitumbi, Minna
The two others were arrested for receiving and concealing the stolen properties, as well as harboring the robbery suspects by admitting them to gain entrance to the house as early as 0400hrs when they returned from the robbery scene.
During interrogation, the robbery suspects confessed to the crime and mentioned other robbery incidences the syndicate had carried out at different locations in Minna such as in Mandela, Brighter, Maitumbi, David Mark road, Mobile quarters, and Farm center areas of Minna in the past two months.
More than ten victims of their robbery escapades had surfaced and identified the syndicate, as well as some of their properties robbed.
Exhibits recovered from the suspects during the investigation include;
– Sum of two hundred and fifteen thousand naira
-Sum of one hundred and two thousand Francs CFA
-Four thousand Korean WON
-Thirteen handsets
-One laptop computer
-Three wristwatches
-One axe, knife, nail bar, saw, iron cutter, scissors, plier, MP3 player
-Six caps and other clothing materials.
Suspects are under investigation at SCID Minna, while effort is ongoing to arrest other fleeing members of the syndicate.
