The Niger State Police Command has extended humanitarian support to families of deceased officers, presented Ramadan relief packages to about fifty widows in a gesture aimed at easing their burden during the holy month.

The initiative, led by the Commissioner of Police, Adamu Abdullahi Elleman, was carried out on Tuesday, March 17, 2026, at the Police Headquarters in Dutsen-Kura, Minna. Represented by the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Administration, Aminu Garba, the CP oversaw the presentation of financial support to the beneficiaries.
Each of the widows received a cash token of ₦20,000, as part of efforts by the Command to provide immediate relief and demonstrate solidarity with the families of fallen officers.
Speaking during the brief ceremony, the Commissioner of Police emphasized that the gesture was in line with the spirit of Ramadan, a period marked by compassion, charity, and reflection. He noted that the initiative was designed to show care and appreciation to the families who lost their loved ones in the line of duty.
Elleman further reassured the beneficiaries that the welfare of deceased officers’ families remains a top priority for the Command. He highlighted that beyond the Ramadan support, families are entitled to other institutional benefits, including the Group Life Assurance Scheme, the Inspector-General of Police Welfare Scheme, and the Group Personal Accident package.
He encouraged the families to maintain close contact with the Command and seek assistance whenever necessary, assuring them that the Police Headquarters remains open and supportive at all times.
The Commissioner also expressed condolences to the families and offered prayers for the peaceful repose of the departed officers.
The event was attended by several senior officers, including Deputy Commissioners of Police Habila Daniel and Yakubu Isah, as well as other ranks within the Command.
The gesture underscored the Command’s ongoing commitment to personnel welfare, particularly in supporting families left behind by officers who paid the ultimate sacrifice in service to the nation.
