The Niger State Police Command has commenced activities marking the 2026 National Police Day with a statewide environmental sanitation exercise and medical outreach aimed at strengthening community relations.
The exercise, held on Monday across host communities of all Police Divisions and the State Command Headquarters in Dutsen-Kura, Minna, saw police personnel actively participating in sanitation efforts to promote a cleaner environment.
As part of the Day One activities, the Command also organised a medical outreach in Angwan-Daji, Limawa, and Angwan-Sarki communities. Vulnerable residents, visitors, and members of the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC) benefited from free medical services provided by the Police medical team.
Addressing officers after the sanitation exercise in Dutsen-Kura, the Commissioner of Police, Niger State Command, CP Adamu Abdullahi Elleman, represented by the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Administration, DCP Aminu Garba, highlighted the significance of the National Police Day celebration.
He noted that the 2026 theme, “Community Partnership: Building Trust,” underscores the importance of collaboration between the Police and the public. According to him, the sanitation and medical outreach initiatives are designed to support communities while fostering mutual trust and stronger relationships.
The Deputy Commissioner further disclosed that activities would continue on Tuesday, March 31, with a walkathon, urging police personnel, members of the Police Officers’ Wives Association (POWA), PCRC, non-governmental organisations, and other stakeholders to participate in the event.
Senior officers present at the event included DCP Habila Daniel, DCP Yakubu Isah, ACP Sani Jibril, CSP Hassan Sani, CSP Yakubu Tahir, CSP Olufemi Akinniyi, CSP Dauda Nda-Ali, and CSP Mohammed Mamun, among others.
The National Police Day celebration is expected to feature a series of activities aimed at enhancing police-community engagement across the state.
