The Secretary to the Government of Niger State (SSG), Alhaji Abubakar Usman, has received participants of the Executive Intelligence Management Course 18 from the National Institute for Security Studies (NISS), Abuja, who are on a study tour of Niger State. The participants were hosted at Azzarah Lodge, Minna.
In his welcome address, the SSG, represented by Dr. Mohammed Mohammed Makusidi, Permanent Secretary, General Services, SSG’s Office, expressed delight at hosting the distinguished participants. He noted that the study tour reflected the Institute’s commitment to practical, experiential learning and underscored the strategic importance of Niger State in Nigeria’s security architecture.
Alhaji Usman stated that the state was pleased to welcome the senior security officials and executives, described them as the future leadership of the nation’s security apparatus. He emphasized that the visit provided a valuable opportunity for knowledge exchange and further strengthened the collaboration between Niger State and national security institutions.
The SSG reaffirmed the Niger State Government’s commitment to supporting educational initiatives aimed at enhancing national security, expressed hope that the study tour would yield meaningful insights for both the participants and the state.
Highlighting the state’s security landscape, Alhaji Usman spoke about the challenges and successes recorded in the fight against insecurity. He noted that Niger State had adopted innovative and proactive approaches to maintaining peace and security, in collaboration with various security agencies.
Speaking on behalf of the delegation, Mr. Rafiu Bolarinwa, the leader of the NISS team, thanked the SSG for the warm reception accorded them since their arrival. He expressed appreciation for the opportunity to learn firsthand about the state’s security management strategies.
Bolarinwa explained that the study tour is a crucial component of the Executive Intelligence Management Course curriculum, designed to expose participants to practical security challenges and effective solutions across different states of the federation.
He added that during their stay in Niger State, participants would receive briefings from Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs), engage with key stakeholders, and study the unique security dynamics of the state. The knowledge gained would contribute to their individual and group research projects and enhance their capacity as senior security managers.
The Executive Intelligence Management Course 18 participants included senior officers from various security agencies, international participants, and officials from strategic institutions. The course is designed to prepare them for top leadership positions in Africa’s evolving security landscape.
