The Federal Government of Nigeria has extended warm felicitations to the Government and people of the Republic of Jamaica on the occasion of the country’s 61st Independence Anniversary.
The Honourable Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, conveyed Nigeria’s goodwill in a message addressed to his Jamaican counterpart, Her Excellency Kamina Johnson Smith, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade of Jamaica.
In the congratulatory message, the Minister highlighted the deep historical and cultural connections between Nigeria and Jamaica, rooted in a common heritage and shared aspirations across the African diaspora. He noted that both nations continue to enjoy cordial relations built on mutual respect, friendship, and fruitful cooperation.
Nigeria also lauded Jamaica’s strides in governance, education, sports, culture, and sustainable development, described them as inspiring examples across the Caribbean, Africa, and beyond.
Ambassador Tuggar reiterated Nigeria’s commitment to strengthening bilateral ties with Jamaica, especially in the areas of trade, education, tourism, sport, and cultural exchange.
“As Jamaica marks this auspicious occasion, Nigeria joins in the spirit of unity, pride, and celebration,” the statement added. “We look forward to enhanced collaboration between our two nations in regional and international platforms, including the Commonwealth and the United Nations, toward the pursuit of shared goals of peace, prosperity, and sustainable development.”
