The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has commissioned a fully renovated Senior Officers’ Mess at the Kabala Doki Customs Barracks, Kaduna, in a move aimed at enhancing officers’ welfare, morale, and operational efficiency within the Kaduna Area Command.
The commissioning ceremony, held on Wednesday, 17 December 2025, was led by the Customs Area Controller, Kaduna Area Command, Comptroller Sa’ad Hassan. The facility was formally inaugurated by the Zonal Coordinator, Zone B, Assistant Comptroller General of Customs, Nsika Umoh, who represented the Comptroller-General of Customs at the event.
According to the Service, the upgraded Mess is designed to provide a functional and conducive environment for official engagements, fitness activities, and social interaction among senior officers, thereby strengthening esprit de corps and supporting effective service delivery.
In her remarks, Assistant Comptroller General Nsika Umoh commended the Kaduna Area Command for its prudent use of resources and commitment to officers’ welfare. She noted that the project aligned with the reform agenda of the Comptroller-General of Customs, which places emphasis on improved working conditions, professionalism, and discipline as key drivers of revenue generation, trade facilitation, and border security.
Comptroller Sa’ad Hassan, in his response, expressed appreciation to the Zonal Coordinator and other senior officers for their guidance and support. He reaffirmed the Command’s resolve to prioritise welfare-oriented projects and urged officers to ensure proper maintenance of the facility in line with the values and standards of the Nigeria Customs Service.
The event also featured an inspection of the renovated complex, a brief formal programme, and a group photograph involving senior officers, other ranks, and invited guests, highlighting the Command’s collective commitment to professionalism and excellence in service delivery.
